Jake

Silly Pup and The Blue Thing

I've had Diana (photo right, Danjo's Wonder Woman) now for 79 of the best days of my life. She's a little over 5 months old now. She is absolutely the sweetest dog in the world. Very friendly and outgoing. We are still working on and will probably need to work for a while on her ability to listen to me while "distracted" (ie. knows everything at home, but won't listen during puppy class when there are other puppies and people around) but she is a joy. We are trying to practice more outside, not that you can tell by watching.

We are constantly amazed by her and I never realized how entertaining a dog could be. About a month ago she went through a phase of being "scared" of her giant vinyl hot dog toy. It was so funny to see my Dobe back away from and or growl at a hot dog toy. She conquered that fear in a couple of weeks though.

Her new thing is being afraid of a blue tarp. She has a dog run on the side of the house that shares a fence with my neighbor. Anyway he draped a blue tarp over that fence to dry out. I took her out to go potty and she took one step out the door then ran back in the garage. I went out in the dog run and scooped poop and walked around for 10 min. calling to her and telling her she was safe and that the tarp wouldn't get her. She made many false starts of taking a step or two into the dog run then making a quick getaway back into the garage. She finally did come out and pee, staring up at the tarp the entire time. I mean the wind wasn't even blowing so the tarp wasn't even moving! Despite the past few potty trips taking longer for her to work up the courage to potty in front of the tarp.

I watch her keeping her eye on the tarp while doing her business and I think "Yup, those Dobes are vicious alright."
